Introduction:

Words can either break or make. One word can make your day, and other may destroy your entire life. We see and say words every day. In the commercials, during conversations, the stores’ logo, and also in books. Occasionally, words can make you hold a grudge, but as well can make you have love. Additionally, some words can keep you high in the sky, and some may stumble you in inferno. Now, Imagine the tons of words one book may contain? Okay, let’s say that you imagined that, but can you imagine these words’ effect and ether? That’s the precise query.

Ancient preachers and people have always said that your only trustworthy friend in the world is the book. And I believe that profoundly. Why is it your only friend? Because it can answer all of your questions without lying, entertain you, expand your knowledge and vocabulary, make you feel satisfied and loved, convey you to another world, and last forever with you till your death. See, books are like people but without malice or bad intensions. And in this article, I’ll prove that books should be your best friend by illustrations and explanations.

How can mere pages change your life and outlook?

As humans, we get effected easily by various external and internal effects despite the type of it, if it’s encouraging or harmful. Hence, the result from this effect is what concerns us. Sometimes, external effects defeat the internal; because we get exposure to it daily. From this point of view, books (words) are the most affecting ones from all the aspects.

Every book has its own story, idea, quotes, and goal. The job of the writer is to attract your attention by playing with words and stating facts either in an emotional way or comic one. So, the author’s Writing style and the idea of the book are what controls your understanding and face expressions while reading plus your sensations. Indeed, the writing style differs from an author to author.

People who don’t read always mock how can a book change somebody’s point of view about marriage or anatomy for example. Consequently, I’ll explain how and why books can change not even a perspective but a total personality.

Every person cling to his own opinions and thoughts no matter what. Occasionally, others try to convince him with their perspectives and ideas, seldom he listens to them but mostly he stays stubborn. For real, books can erase your stubbornness without any doubt, it can convince without anger, frustration, or irritation like some people. In addition to it, every fact in any book is stated rationally and followed by samples and proofs. So, here the writing style plays its role.

Plus, you may learn more about things you’ve never imagined or thought about, fortunately you gain knowledge. Moreover, books can help you mentally to control your feelings and be more confident. Also, they could even improve any skill you’re weak at, and teach languages and tips. Finally, they have the complete control on your sensations, either you laugh, cry, or smile, just because of a quote or a statement.

So now, have you changed your opinion about books? Still not, Let me complete.

5 tips to choose the accurate book:

1) First, you need to decide whether you prefer literary, scientific, or self -improvement topics. My advice: choose the opposite; to stay aside from the comfort zone

2) Second, choose the language you’d like to read. My advice: try to read diverse languages to improve your skills, but don’t force yourself.

3) Third, state your favourite genres, like, medicine, horror, space, romantic, social, self-help. My advice: pick categories you don’t like; to increase your information.

4) Fourth, search for known authors such as James Clear and Agatha Christie. My advice: recite each authors’ books, writing style, life, rewards, and readers’ reviews about him/her.

5) Fifth, before you read a book make a search on google about it. My advice: look for the story of the book, genre, pages, the writer, and other people’s comments.

6) Sometimes a book cover or a title can make you buy it without even knowing its content then you’d feel guilt. My advice: inspect the content before the appearance.

How to gain adequate reading skills?

Reading isn’t a hard work and, doesn’t need a certain equipment or money. It just requires focus, patience, and coffee/tea. We all can grab an ice coffee and open a random and start reading, but can we all get the same benefit from the same book or focus? No, indeed.

Here are some stated guidelines to master the vital reading skill:

1. Initially, have your cup of tea/coffee; to be motivated and relaxed.

2. Next, choose a random book.

3. Then, read the story’s name, author’s name, and what’s written behind the book (that’ll guide you to the story/genre of the book).

4. Following, read the chapters and know the number of pages (Don’t panic if it was 500)

5. After that, start with the first chapter and go on.

6. Now, focus is what you lack, so keep your eyes on every word.

7. Essentially, avoid reading like a hypnotized, feel what you read, not read what you read.

8. Basically, if the book didn’t match your taste or contain inappropriate statements, return back to the shelf. (if you force yourself to read a book then the joy will vanish).

Reading quotes that I cherish and respect:

  1. “Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”
    Lemony Snicket, Horseradish
  2. “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
    C.S. Lewis
  3. “We read to know we’re not alone.”
    William Nicholson, Shadowlands
  4. “Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
  5. “If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
    Oscar Wilde
  6. “I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”
    Groucho Marx
  7. “Books are a uniquely portable magic.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
  8. “Do not read, as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious, for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live.”
    Gustave Flaubert
  9. “Sleep is good, he said, and books are better.”
    George R. R. Martin
  10. “Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it.
Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.”
    William Faulkner

Now, do you still despise reading and readers?
